New Science Centre
A new Science Centre is set to open in the Jurong Lake District in 2027, aiming to be a one-stop destination for the public to access science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and experiences. Visitors can also enjoy facilities such as a new observatory to learn about astrono my and a digital fabrication lab that will support incubator programmes.
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in collaboration with Architects 61, the new Science Centre is inspired by the natural landscape and lake at Jurong Lake Gardens. The new Science Centre will serve as the heart of the community, integrated with the surrounding landscape, with lush gardens and spaces for all to enjoy.
Lakeside Gateway
The Lakeside Gateway, a 120-hectare site located between Jurong Gateway and Lakeside, is earmarked as a new mixed-use business precinct. It will have a mix of offices, housing and amenities in a car-lite and park setting.
Aside from the continuous waterfront access for the residents and visitors, the future developments at Lakeside Gateway will connect seamlessly to the existing commercial centre and MRT station via elevated pedestrian linkages and lushly planted streets. It could be integrated with the surrounding areas, such as the International Business Park to the east, as well as Teban Gardens and Pandan Gardens to the south.
Jurong Innovation District
Occupying 600 hectares and part of Singapore’s West Region redevelopment, Jurong Innovation District Is one of the three new business areas in the West. This hub is envisioned as an industrial district for advanced manufacturing, supporting an ecosystem of manufacturers, technology providers, researchers and education institutions. When fully developed, Jurong Innovation District is expected to create over 95,000 new jobs.
With its focus on advanced manufacturing, Nanyang Technological Univeristy as its academic anchor and established industry leaders, Jurong Innovation District is a compelling choice for manufacturing companies looking for a new space. They offer cleantech facilities and fully customisable spaces which may not be easily available elsewhere. Being in an innovation hub may also lead to serendipitous cross-seeding of ideas.
